The first step to leading a zero waste lifestyle is to begin to reduce in your daily life. Our waste and recycling make up 60% of our daily trash so even small reductions will have a big impact on our waste output. The United States produces more trash than any other country in the world at 1,609 pounds per person per year. This means that 5% of the world’s people generate 40% of the world’s waste. With trash, it is often out of sight, out of mind, but we need to be mindful of our outputs.
